New in Resorts World Manila: Annam Noodle Bar

9:44:00 PM

Have you ever been to Vietnam?

If so, you'll see why their food is so famous - simple yet unique, delicious, mostly gluten-free and relatively cheap! Prior to (second) Annam Noodle Bar's launch and opening, I was craving some authentic Vietnamese food and I couldn't decide where to go, then had a taste of Annam's knockout bestsellers with a revamped menu to bring rice dishes to it's diners.

Mostly are influenced from one of Vietnam's street food - broken rice: new offerings include Crispy Fried Pork Chop with classic Vietnamese steamed Egg Meatloaf; Twice Cooked Australian Beef Brisket with Imperial Roll; Fried Fish Fillet in Tomato-Turmeric Sauce with Prawn Sugarcane; and Sauteed Pork Belly with Prawns and Fried Egg. These rice dishes uses long-grain variety, embodying both Vietnamese and Filipino flavours and ingredients as they feature meat and seafood toppings in each plate. Another classic introduced by Annam is the Shaking Beef in Pepper Hoisin Sauce or bò lúc lắc. It's tongue-in-cheek name derived from the way the wok is "shaken" to sear the meat. Served with thick cut fries due to its influences from the French colonial period.

New recipes that will even tempt us to visit Annam real soon are Soy Braised Chicken Noodle with Crispy Wonton and Mekong Prawn Roll; and Bun Cha Hanoi - another mouthwatering dish with grilled marinated pork patty and pork belly with a side of crispy Mekong prawn roll.

The French-inspired stuffed baguettes (Bánh mì) made me miss Vietnam more especially when paired with signature coffee made from premium robusta beans... Annam created (3) new exciting flavours - Twice Cooked Australian Beef Brisket, Crispy Fried Turmeric Chicken and Smoked Salmon with Tofu and Cream Cheese - all topped with traditional Vietnamese pickles, chicken pate and fresh herbs.

For appetizers, you may opt for Annam's small plate dishes like Pomelo Salad with Prawns, Chicken and Assorted Crackers, Crispy Chicken Bites with Sriracha Mayonnaise and Bánh Bao Buns - steamed buns stuffed with caramelised pork belly, egg, cucumber and scallion plus the ever-popular Caramelised Crispy Chicken Wings with an improved recipe!
Now this will even make the food taste better: thirst-quenching beverages with vibrant tropical fruits including Mango-Pineapple Sparkling, Passion-Soursop Sparkling and Lime-Lychee Sparkling. For caffeine boost that we always crave, try their new creations - Salted Caramel-Banana Iced Coffee and Pandan-Red Bean Iced Milk Tea
