Energizer Night Race 2015 reached P1M!

There were about 3,000 runners in this year’s Energizer Night Race at the Filinvest City in Alabang last June 27, 2015. The first open loop run reached P1,000,000.00 worth of donations which benefited the children of Bantay Bata 163.

As part of its commitment to share positivenergy, Energizer encouraged the participants to keep on going and run as far and as fast as they can within the two-hour frame. Every 3-kilometer loop ran equates to P100, which was added as part  of Bantay Bata 163’s medical treatment funds.

According to Vincent Lizo, Energizer Philippines’ business director, this never-before-seen loop run pushed the runners further in beating their personal records, with an added benefit of giving positive light to the most vulnerable children of Bantay Bata 163. “Ever since the Energizer Night Race took form, we saw it as more than being just a simple fun run. Above all, we used this platform to practice an  important Energizer mantra, which is to share positivenergy,” Lizo said. “Ultimately, that is our primary goal.”

Meanwhile, Clarissa Ocampo— the Managing Director of Bantay  Bata— stressed the importance of the organization’s partnership with Energizer Philippines, Inc. “We are looking forward to engage in a joint venture with partners who have the same mission with Bantay Bata,”Ocampo said. “That’s why we partnered with Energizer— we want to light up lives. What we really need for the organization is to have partners who will be committed to help our children in ways that will affect them on a longer term” added Ocampo.

MJ Tiquia, Energizer brand activation manager, added that the  night race offered a different running experience to the  participants, saying that “there’s no boundary to  helping change people’s lives. “All it takes is to go beyond  your limits,” Tiquia said. She also emphasized that while there’s no competition involved in the night race, it only required “the strength to go on to challenge yourself.”

The runners’ time were monitored through the radio frequency identification (RFID), which tracked every 3k loop a runner makes. For their added convenience, kilometer markers in the  race route were also provided. Likewise, a battery meter  lights up everytime a runner finishes a three-kilometer run. This battery meter compiled all the three kilometer runs the runner makes, until it reaches the one million target. To monitor the runners’ progress, an LED-display was positioned onstage and in the start and finish arcs. After the race, the participants gathered to listen to the hits of Yeng Constantino, UpDharma Down, and Itchyworms.

“The success of the Energizer Night Race 2015 will not be possible without the participants who shared positivenergy to the medical children of Bantay Bata,” said Claire Guevarra,  senior brand manager of Energizer. “Every year, we are  conducting our Energizer Night Race since 2010, and we are trying to come up with more unique, fun, and more engaging  activities for the runners. However, it’s not just about  benefiting those who will participate; it’s always about  giving back to the community through more positive contributions.”

Guevarra concluded, “The unwavering support of the participants this year helped us reach the amount of donations we need to help support the medical children of Bantay Bata. While the organization heals the scars of the rescued children, we’ll help prepare their future through quality healthcare support. For us, that’s sharing positivenergy.”
